PDEA operatives seize P5.5M shabu in Samar, Albay
AGENTS of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) nabbed two drug suspects in Samar and Albay and seized some P5.5 million worth of shabu last Friday, PDEA chair Director General Moro Virgilio M. Lazo said Saturday.
PDEA Region 8 operatives arrested the first suspect, Russel Belida, 42, an employee of the Catbalogan City local government in Samar, in Brgy. 4 at around 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Confiscated from the suspect were around 34 grams of shabu worth P270,000.
Members of the PDEA Region 8 and the local police conducted the buy-bust which also led to the confiscation of electronic receipts of money transfer made by the suspect and another cohort believed to be involved in drug trafficking in the Visayas and Bicol.
The two will be subjected to a financial investigation, the PDEA chief said.
The 2nd suspect, Sandra Floralde, yielded 500 grams of shabu worth nearly P3.4 million in a buy-bust in Bgy. Capantawan, Legazpi City in Albay.
Last week, PDEA Region 4 operatives also arrested Aljune Mangulamnas, 38; and his wife Aida, 40, of Golden Horizon Subdivision in Bgy. Hugo Perez in Trece Martires City, Cavite.
Recovered from the couple were half-a-kilo of shabu valued at P3.4 million and the buy-bust money.
All arrested suspects are now facing non-bailable charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, said Lazo.
