THE Philippine Airlines (PAL) said it regrets the non-acceptance of 282 OFW passengers of flight PR5654 Manila – Riyadh yesterday, May 28.

In a statement, PAL spokesperson Ma. Cielo Villaluna said the flag carrier did not receive official advice from the Philippine government regarding the prohibition on the entry into Saudi Arabia of OFWs until further notice.

In the absence of any official directive, the check-in process was carried out by our Airport team at NAIA Terminal 1.

However, she said, “the Bureau of Immigration’s non-acceptance of our OFW passengers led to their exclusion from the flight.”

As of this writing, Villaluna said PAL is awaiting for the official directive from the government.

“We have been left with no other choice but to accept the unfortunate circumstances. PR-5654 still departed Manila at 11 a.m.without passengers to enable PR-5755 to load passengers for the Riyadh to Manila flight,” she said.
