CNN Philippines — The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco confirmed that at least one of those killed in a mass shooting in San Jose was a Filipino.

“The Consulate is confirming that at least one of the victims is of Filipino descent, and stands ready to extend assistance,” the office said in a tweet without naming the victim.

Based on latest developments, the gunman who killed nine colleagues at a light rail yard in Northern California before killing himself, appeared set to target his victims, CNN reported.

Authorities are still investigating the motive for the shooting.

US President Joe Biden has reacted to the incident by urging Congress to “take immediate action” regarding the country’s gun legislation.
