PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar on Saturday lauded members of the Police Regional Office 7 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit for arresting a “high-value target” (HVT) in the region who yielded P7.1-million worth of shabu during a sting in Cebu City.

Eleazar referred to the arrest of the suspect identified only as alias “Toro” in an anti-narcotics operation in Bgy. Tejero in Cebu City. The suspect was tagged by the local police as a known shabu distributor in the city and is said to be getting his drug supply from a big-time drug trafficker currently being held in a Cebu jail.

“We are verifying this information and we will further investigate the scope of his illegal drug activities,” Eleazar said.

Eleazar earlier ordered the PNP Drug Enforcement Group headed by Brigadier Gen. Remus B. Medina to fully investigate reports that a number of “captured HVTs” in the country have been getting their stuff from convicted drug lords who are mostly serving their term at the New Bilibid Prisons or in different jails in Cebu province.
