P1.7M shabu seized from Nigerian in Angeles City

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A foreigner was arrested in an anti-illegal drug operation conducted by the police here in Barangay Pulung Maragul, this city last Friday.

Col. Rommel Batangan, acting city police director, said the buy-bust conducted in front of a Mercury Drug branch along A. Nepomuceno Ave. Brgy. Pulung Maragul by joint operating units of ACDEU Police Station 4 and Police Station 3 resulted to the arrest of Mathias Ibrahim Anike, 30, a Nigerian national, and resident of Lancaster Residence in Imus, Cavite.

During the buy-bust, Anike sensed that he was transacting with authorities and tried to elude arrest on board his vehicle but the steering wheel went out of control and rammed a steel barrier.

Seized from suspect were 10 pieces plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 250 grams with an estimated DDB value of P1,700,000 and the P1,000 marked bill used in the operation.

Cases for violation of Section 5 and Section 11 Art II of R. A. 9165 as well asSec. 26B in relation to Sec. 5 Art II of R.A. 9165 are being prepared against the suspect for filing before the Prosecutor’s Office here.

PRO3 director BGen. Valeriano De Leon commended the operating troops.
