Over 50 House members show up at CDO BPSF

Martin4Martin5THE Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) in Cagayan de Oro City last May 16 to 17 drew an attendance of over 50 members of the House of Representatives, proving that the festival of services has the full support of members of the chamber.

Speaker Martin G. Romualdez led the lawmakers in witnessing yet another successful round of BPSF in the city, along with local host Cagayan De Oro 1st District Rep. Lordan G. Suan, saying he is very much pleased with the turnout of House members given the short amount of time to prepare for the service caravan in the Mindanaoan city.

“Sa totoo lang, biglaan po ang ating BPSF dito sa Cagayan de Oro. Kaya nakakatuwa pa rin na mayroong mahigit sa 50 na congressman at congresswoman na pumunta dito. Dito natin nakikita at nararamdaman ang suporta ng mga mambabatas sa programa ni Pangulong Marcos Jr.,” Romualdez, the leader of the 300-plus-member House of Representatives, said.

“Dito sa BPSF, personal nating nakikita ang bunga ng ating mga ginagawang batas, kasama na ang mga programang pang-ayusa sa ating mga mamamayan. Kung dati ay nakikita lang natin ito sa papel, ngayon ay nasasaksihan natin kung paano talaga ito nakakatulong sa mga mamamayan,” he added.

According to House Deputy Secretary Sofonias Gabonada,Jr. one of the key officials spearheading the groundwork for the BPSF and related activities, the number of House members who attended the event totals 53.

In the last BPSF in Zamboanga City, an unprecedented 85 lawmakers attended to witness how government programs and financial aid projects benefit the people.

“The solidarity we see among lawmakers is the same solidarity we show in pushing for the legislative agenda of the President. Ito ang tunay na unity: pagkakaisa para sa kapakanan ng ating mga kababayan,” Speaker Romualdez said.

The CDO BPSF is the 17th installment of the service caravan that aims to visit all 82 provinces of the Philippines. It rolled out a total of P280 million in government programs and cash aid that benefitted over 30,000 beneficiaries.

House leaders like Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales, Jr., Majority Leader Manuel Jose “Mannix” Dalipe, Deputy Speaker David “Jayjay” Suarez, and Deputy Majority Leader Erwin Tulfo led the contingent of lawmakers who attended the event.

Also present at the event were lawmakers whose constituents received assistance under President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.’s Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolk and Families (PAFF) program like Cagayan De Oro 2ndDistrict Rep. Rufus B. Rodriguez, Misamis Oriental Reps. Christian Unabia (1st District) and Rep. Yevgeny Emano (2nd District), Bukidnon Reps. Jonathan Keith Flores (2nd District) and Laarni Lavin Roque (4th District), as well as Camiguin Lone District Rep. Jurdin Romualdo.

Also present are Misamis Oriental Gov. Peter M. Unabia, Camiguin Gov. Xavier Jesus D. Romualdo, Davao del Norte Gov. Rogelio Neil P. Roque and Gingoog Mayor Klarex A. Uy.

“Sana sa mga susunod pa nating BPSF sa Tawi-Tawi at sa Davao del Norte ay mas marami pang makadalaw na mambabatas. Salamat at dahil sa inyo ay nagiging matagumpay ang ating service caravan,” Speaker Romualdez said.
