No ‘zombie attack’ in Bukidnon – police

THE Valencia City Police Station in Bukidnon has dismissed rumors of an alleged “zombie attack” in a village in the city.

This after a photo of a man being attacked and bitten in different parts of his body in Tungan-tungan village, Valencia City went viral on social media last week.

The incident triggered some news by netizens of an alleged “zombie attack” in the city.

Valencia City police chief investigator Lt. Pablo Jugos Jr. said the incident that happened on February 17 was just a rare physical assault involving two men.

The chief investigator identified the suspect as Carl Clinton Colinas, 25, from Saligan village and the victim, Anthony Arimas, 30, of Bgy. Tungan-tungan.

An initial investigation showed Arimas heard someone yelling between midnight and 1 a.m. on February. 17. He went outside and saw the naked suspect running like being chased.

Arimas said Colinas suddenly attacked him, pierced his eyes using the suspect’s fingers, bit his fingers and sucked his blood.

Reponding lawmen arrested the suspect.

Prior to the alleged assault, police said Colinas and his live-in partner had a misunderstanding.

The prober also said that the suspect had a history of going into rehabilitation for illegal drug use.

At the police station, the suspect said he did not take any drugs but admitted being drunk.

The chief investigator urged the public to refrain from exaggerating information and stop spreading unverified information on social media to prevent panic.

“The people must not worry as there was no zombie attack that happened in the city. We must be very careful in sharing information, especially on social media. The police will always provide intensive security to protect the residents,” Jugos said.

Colinas was hauled to jail while the victim is being treated at the hospital.
