STEPPED-UP campaign against illegal drug trafficking and abuse by the National Capital Region Police Office has resulted in major accomplishments which were lauded by Philippine National Police Chief General Benjamin C. Acorda Jr.

The top cop cited NCRPO director Brigadier Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. and his men for what he described as ‘impressive accomplishments’ in their war on drugs from August 7 to 11 alone.

During the 5-day period, the NCRPO conducted a total of 252 anti-narcotics operations across Metro Manila resulting in the arrest of 149 targets and the confiscation of some P6.5 million worth of shabu, marijuana, and the designer drug called ‘Ecstasy.’

The Eastern Police District under Brig. Gen. Wilson C. Asueta on the other hand, launched 29 operations which netted 44 targets and nearly P883,000 worth of prohibited drugs, the majority of them shabu.

The Northern Police District headed by Brig. Gen. Rizalito G. Gapas conducted 20 of those operations which led to the arrest of 23 suspects and the recovery of around P526,000 worth of shabu and other prohibited drugs.

The Manila Police District under Brig. Gen. Andre P. Dizon jailed 52 drug targets and

accounted for some P1.039 million worth of illegal drugs while the Southern Police District headed by Brig. Gen. Roderick D. Mariano confiscated an estimated P958,000 worth of prohibited drugs from six arrested targets during the same period.

The Quezon City Police District led by Brig. Gen. Nicolas D. Torre III on the other hand launched 37 operations during the period which resulted in the arrest of 71 top drug personalities and the recovery of more than P3.032 million worth of shabu and other dangerous drugs.

“These achievements underscore our unwavering commitment to ridding our communities of the scourge of illegal drugs,” said Gen. Acorda as he stressed that the police force remains steadfast in its duty to ensure the safety and security of the citizens.

“We will continue to intensify our operations and collaboration with various stakeholders to effectively combat this threat,” he assured.

The top cop also said that the NCRPO’s string of accomplishments in the crackdown against illegal drugs is “a testament to the dedication and diligence of law enforcement personnel in upholding the rule of law and preserving the well-being of the Filipino people.’
