The Special Investigation Task Group FIBA will be commanded by Philippine National Police Deputy Chief for Operations Lieutenant Gen. Michael John F. Dubria, who also assured that they have fully prepared to implement a comprehensive security plan to safeguard the well-being of all spectators, athletes and officials involved in the event.

The SITG Metro Manila FBWC 2023 was organized to serve as the primary body in-charge of security operations and other public-related safety service during the games.

According to Brig. Gen. Nartatez, they will deploy a total of 2,225 police officers in different vicinities and areas of responsibility to ensure the security and protection of all the FIBA participants including the world-famous basketball players and spectators.

He likewise said they are aiming for “zero untoward incident” during the games.

The official said they have conducted coordinated meetings with officials of the Philippine Sports Commission, Local Government Units, other stakeholders, and government agencies to organize a collaborated security preparation as the country hosts the FIBA event.

“As the host in providing the safety and security for the participants of FIBA, NCRPO ensures that we are prepared to cater the needs of all the athletes, delegates, and all other foreign guests throughout the event and during their stay in our country,” the Metro Manila police chief said.
