POLICE Regional Office 7 (PRO 7) Director Brigadier General Roque Edgardo DP Vega on Saturday announced the arrest of a retired Cebu policeman wanted for a frustrated murder case during a manhunt operation in Naga City.

The official said that the suspect, tagged as the no. 1 most wanted person (MWP) in Cebu, was arrested on the strength of a warrant for frustrated murder issued by Judge Soliver Peras of the Cebu City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 10 with no bail recommended.

In a report to Philippine National Police Officer-in-Charge (PNP-OIC), Lt. Gen. Vicente D. Danao Jr., the PRO7 director, said that the accused was tracked down in his hiding place in Naga City, Cebu, on Thursday afternoon by combined operatives from the Cebu Police Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

Lt. Gen. Danao commended PRO 7 for accounting for another MWP in the country.

“The PNP as primary law enforcement agency will continue to implement the laws and policies of the land to ensure peace and order and safety of every Filipino people. Let us strengthen our operational strategies to fight criminality by arresting wanted persons and let them face the criminal charges filed against them,” he said.

The suspect is now under the custody of the CIDG Cebu City Field Unit pending his presentation to the court.
