MPD officers, men honored
MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna expressed her appreciation to the officers and men of Manila Police District (MPD) for assisting the Manila City Government in rescuing more than two thousand families affected by typhoon Kristine.
In her speech after the regular flag raising ceremony yesterday at the Kartilya ng Katipunan, Mayor Honey mentioned the peace and order, that is primarily the mission of more or less four thousand members of Manila’s Finest led by P/BGen. Arnold Thoma Ibay.
“Sa tuwing sila ay gagampanan ang kanilang mga tungkulin, alam na alam po nila na ang kanilang mga mga buhay ay nakasalalay doon, pero ginagawa pa rin nila ang kanilang sinumpaang tungkulin, 247, kaya maraming maraming salamat po sa bumubuo ng Manila Police District,” Mayor Lacuna said.
The mayor added that aside from day to day duties of the Manila police, officers and men of 14 police stations and 47 Police Community Precincts (PCP) extend assistance to 2,138 families affected by the typhoon.
Aside from the MPD, Mayor Lacuna also acknowledged the role of the officials and employees of the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO), Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW), Engineering and City Electricians Office, among others.
The city chief executive also took the opportunity to thank the 14-men team of the MDRRMO who were still in Bicol rescuing residents who were trapped in the flooded areas.
