POLICE Regional Office 4-B director Brig. Gen. Joel B. Doria yesterday ordered all Mimaropa police units to be on full alert for possible New People’s Army retaliatory actions in the aftermath of the killing of two of their members in a clash with Army soldiers in Gloria, Oriental Mindoro on Monday night.

The clash took place in Bgy. Buong Lupa in Gloria municipality around 7 p.m. Monday and left two armed NPA members identified only as “Ka Rochie” and “Ka Bondo” dead while a third identified as “Ka Aiza” was captured.

Two high-powered firearms and several live ammunition were recovered from the slain suspects.

Doria said that members of the Army’s 76th Infantry Battalion were on patrol in Bgy. Buong Lupa when they encountered an undetermined number of heavily-armed NPA guerrillas.

After receiving the report about the ongoing clash, members of the Gloria Municipal Police Station and the Oriental Mindoro Provincial Police Office’s 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company rushed to the site.

Officers later discovered the bodies of the two slain gunmen in the area and found out that one rebel was captured by the soldiers.

“Our men are now checking all hospitals and clinics in the area for possible patients with gunshot wounds,” the PRO4-B director said.

Doria said that checkpoints and chokepoints have been established by the local police to intercept any of the fleeing gunmen.

All police stations in the province and the rest of the region were also ordered to maintain their alert and intensify their camp/station defense, in coordination with the Armed Forces.
