MC driver dies in Batangas road mishap

A 36-YEAR-OLD driver was pronounced dead on arrival hospital after he accidentally collided with a rebuilt jeepney while traversing J.P. Laurel Highway, in Bgy. San Roque, Sto Tomas City, Batangas.

Sto Tomas City police identified the fatality as Nel Anthony Coronel.

Initial investigation showed that around 5:30 a.m., a Honda Click motorcycle driven by Coronel was seen traveling on the said highway when he accidentally bumped a pedestrian identified as Alfredo Abay.

Police said the motorcycle was still running until it accidentally collided with a rebuilt jeepney with plate no. DXM 975 driven by Marblend Regana, 34, who was seen traversing the opposite direction.

Coronel fell on the concrete pavement.

Coronel was rushed by the Sto Tomas City rescue team to the Laurel District Hospital in Tanauan City but was declared dead on arrival by attending physician, Dr. Nicanor C. Reyes.

Abay sustained injuries the body and was brought to the Cabrini Medical hospital for treatment.
