MC driver, cook killed in Batangas road crash
THE driver and one of his back riders were killed, and another was seriously injured when the motorcycle they were riding lost control, hit the post, and landed in the open canal in Barangay Calayo, Nasugbu, Batangas the other day.
Nasugbu Municipal Police Station (MPS) Chief Lt. Col. Jephte F. Banderado said the two fatalities were identified as William Baon, the driver, and back rider Christian Sevilla, 32, both residents of Bgy. Centro.
Another rider identified as Renante Derain, 34, single of Sitio Hulo, of Bgy. Calayo, Nasugbu.
Bgy. Calayo Chairwoman Guillerma Alegado reported the incident to the police at 8:40 p.m., and police investigators were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Initial investigation disclosed that at about 6:15 p.m., Baon, a caretaker, was seen driving a Yamaha Mio with his two back riders traversing the stretch of the said village.
Upon reaching the descending curved portion of the road, the driver suddenly lost control of the steering handle, swerved then, hit the steel post, and headed straight onto the canal on the right side of the road.
Due to the strong impact, the trio slumped into the ditch, but Baon and Sevilla sustained severe head and body injuries that caused their untimely deaths.
Derain also sustained head injuries and was taken to Jabez Medical Center for treatment.
The remains of the two fatalities were brought to a funeral home for autopsy.
