Tess LardizabalWALANG maiiwan.

With these two powerful words, Malabon Mayor Jeannie N. Sandoval showed that she is a true leader with grit and grace.

At the Gabi ng Pasasalamat held April 28, 2023 at the Malabon City Sports Complex, Mayor Sandoval — with a deep sense of gratitude — thanked all constituents as well as partners and patrons in growth for making Malabon a city that they now proudly call home.

Mayor Sandoval also rallied all local folk, the city’s development allies and loyal supporters to link arms with her in making Malabon greater.

This developed as Malabon also marked two milestones — its 22nd cityhood anniversary and its 424th foundation day.

The following is Mayor Sandoval’s full welcome remarks at the Gabi ng Pasasalamat:

“Distinguished guests, esteemed business partners, attendees. Good evening to all of you!

This evening, we celebrate the first ever Gabi ng Pasasalamat in the city’s history. This is part of the month-long celebration to commemorate the 22nd Malabon Cityhood Anniversary and the 424th Malabon Foundation Day. Tonight is an opportunity for us to come together as a community, celebrate our achievements, and look towards the future.

Tonight, we have an exciting lineup of programs to showcases our city’s accomplishments and potential:

First is the launch of the Malabon Tourism App, which is an exciting step forward in promoting our city’s unique and diverse attractions to both locals and tourists. This app will make it easier for visitors to explore our city and discover all that Malabon has to offer. With its user-friendly interface and comprehensive information, the app will undoubtedly boost tourism in our city and provide a significant boost to our local economy.

Second is the awarding of the Best Seat in the City, which celebrates the efforts of our local businesses in providing clean and comfortable facilities for our residents and visitors. This recognition highlights the importance of upholding cleanliness and hygiene around the city. We commend the businesses that have gone the extra mile to provide top-notch service to our customers.

Last but not the least is the awarding of the Top 10 Taxpayers for both businesses and real property categories in the city, whose contributions have greatly supported the development of our city’s various programs and projects. Their support has enabled us to make significant strides in areas such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure development. We recognize their contributions and appreciate their continued support.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you who have joined us in this celebration. Your presence here tonight is a testament to the deep sense of pride and commitment we all share towards Malabon City.

As you all know, Malabon City is making significant strides in terms of economic development, and we owe much of our success to your contributions and hard work. You are the lifeblood of our city, and your dedication to your businesses and the community has helped shape Malabon City into what it is today.

The business sector plays a significant role in driving the development of a city. They provide essential goods and services, create job opportunities, and contribute to the growth of the local economy. They also generate revenue for the city through taxes and fees, which can be utilized to improve public services and infrastructure.

Businesses also foster innovation and promote competition, which can drive up the overall quality of goods and services available in the city.

All of these factors make businesses an integral part of a city’s development, and their contributions crucial in creating a vibrant and prosperous community.

Twenty-two years ago, our city of Malabon was granted its cityhood status. While this may seem like a minor bureaucratic change to some, it has had a significant impact on the businesses and taxpayers of our city. Allow me to take a moment to talk about how the status of being a city benefits taxpayers and businesses that operate within the city of Malabon.

If you think about it, businesses benefit greatly from being part of a highly urbanized city like Malabon. Being a city means a higher percentage of the taxes you pay go back to serve the place where your businesses are located.

As we know, taxes are an essential part of any functioning government. They fund the services and amenities that we rely on every day, from roads and bridges to healthcare and education.

For businesses, being a city means having access to a range of services and resources that can help businesses thrive. This includes access to better infrastructure, improved public transportation, and more favorable policies and incentives. It also means having a greater voice in local government, and more opportunities to shape the policies and programs that affect your business.

Tonight, we want to show our gratitude and appreciation for your invaluable contributions to our city’s growth. This Business Partners Night is an opportunity to showcase your successes, recognize your hard work, and give you the recognition you deserve.

I want to express my sincere appreciation for your continued support and commitment to the growth and development of Malabon City. As we embark on this year’s one of its kind Gabi ng Pasasalamat 2023 event, we celebrate not only the achievements of the past year but also the promise of a brighter and more prosperous future.

Together, we can continue to build a city that we are proud to call home, one that is characterized by innovation, progress, and a strong sense of community. Thank you once again for being here with us today, and I wish you all a wonderful evening ahead.

Walang maiiwan. Malabon Ahon!

Sa ating panahon, sabay sabay tayo.

Thank you! Mabuhay ang Lungsod ng Malabon!
