Marikina LGU gets modern fire trucks
THE Department of the Interior and Local Government-Bureau of Fire Protection (DILG-BFP) yesterday turned over two modern pumper fire trucks to Marikina City to further boost and strengthen the city’s firefighting capabilities.
Marikina Mayor Marcelino “Marcy” Teodoro personally received the two 1000-gallon-capacity fire trucks during a turnover ceremony at the BFP National Headquarters in Quezon City.
Interior Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr., Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, and BFP Chief Director Louie Puracan led the ceremonial turnover of the firefighting vehicles.
Mayor Teodoro expressed his gratitude to the DILG and the BFP for the modern fire trucks, noting that the firefighting vehicles would be a great asset in ensuring the safety of the public.
With the addition of the two new modern pumper fire trucks, BFP-Marikina now has a total of seven functional fire trucks.
Superintendent Nestor Gorio, BFP-Marikina fire marshal, said Marikina presently has five fire-fighting assets—three pumper fire trucks, one ladder fire truck, and one rescue fire truck.
He noted that the Marikina-BFP personnel who will operate the new fire trucks will undergo training.
Mayor Marcy underscored the importance of strong cooperation between the local government and national government in order to streamline the delivery of services to the people.
