Marcos, other top gov’t officials score high in nationwide survey— RPMD

In a recent nationwide survey undertaken by the RP- Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD), top governmental officials, including President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Vice President Sara Duterte, Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez have recorded high approval and trust ratings.

The independent and non-commissioned “Boses ng Bayan” public opinion poll, conducted between June 25 and July 5, 2023, and released on July 20, brought President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte into the spotlight with high job approval ratings. President Marcos secured an impressive approval rating of 82%, while Vice President Duterte showcased commendable public endorsement with a rating of 86%, said Dr. Paul Martinez of RPMD.

Further, both leaders exhibited exceptional performance in trust—an essential foundation of leadership. Over the past year, President Marcos has won the high confidence of 86% of Filipinos, and Vice President Duterte has exerted a substantial influence with an extraordinary 90% trust rating, illustrating the profound trust that both officials have successfully instilled among their constituents.

Zubiri, Romualdez high approval, trust ratings

Regarding congressional leaders, the Filipino populace has given high approval ratings for Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri and House Speaker Martin Romualdez. Senate President Zubiri’s approval rating touched a noteworthy 69%, marking an increase of +7 percentage points. Simultaneously, House Speaker Romualdez secured an impressive 70% approval rating, reflecting a significant gain of +10 percentage points.

The trust ratings of the congressional leaders have also seen a promising rise. Senate President Zubiri’s trust rating has grown by +6%, standing at 71% now, while House Speaker Romualdez experienced a +9% increase, leading to a commendable 72% trust score. These results accentuate the growing public sentiment of positivity toward the leadership of these influential congressional figures.

Abalos top cabinet official anew

Regarding cabinet officials, Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr. of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) sustained his position as the top cabinet official with a remarkable performance rating of 88% and a 93% trust rating.

Sec. Abalos was followed by Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian, who assumed office in January 2023 (76% approval, 85% trust rating), National Security Adviser Eduardo Año (75% approval, 87% trust rating), Tourism Sec. Christina Garcia-Frasco (75% approval, 70% trust rating), Budget and Management Sec. Amenah Pangandaman (73% approval, 75% trust rating), Trade and Industry Sec. Alfredo Pascual (71% approval, 65% trust rating), DICT Sec Ivan John Enrile (71% approval, 78% trust), Justice Sec. Jesus Crispin Remulla (69% approval, 66% trust rating), and Finance Sec. Benjamin Diokno (68% approval, 70% trust rating) exhibited high approval and trust ratings.

In the ranking from 6th to 10th place, Department of Migrant Workers Sec. Susan Ople had 66% approval and 68% trust ratings, followed by Exec. Sec. Lucas Bersamin (66% approval, 69% trust rating), DFA Sec. Enrique Manalo (66% approval, 67% trust rating), DPWH Sec. Manuel Bonoan (64% approval, 69% trust rating), SolGen Menardo Guevarra (64% approval, 69% trust rating), DOST Sec. Renato Solidum Jr. (63% approval, 67% trust rating), DHSUD Sec. Jerry Acuzar (61% approval, 64% trust rating), NEDA Sec. Arsenio Balisacan (61% approval, 63% trust rating), DOLE Sec. Bienvenido Laguesma (59% approval, 61% trust rating), Special Assistant to the President Anton Lagdameo Jr. (59% approval, 63% trust rating), Press Sec. Cheloy Garafil (57% approval, 60% trust rating), DOE Sec. Raphael Lotilla (57% approval, 59% trust rating) secured commendable approval and trust ratings.

Tulfo, Villar, Revilla trio top performing Senators

The latest rankings reveal a trio of top-performing Senators—Raffy Tulfo (89.4%), Mark Villar (88.6%), and Bong Revilla (88.5%)—showcasing impressive metrics in a statistical tie. Senators Francis Tolentino (86.1%), Imee Marcos (80.5%), and Grace Poe (85.8%) follow closely, securing the second rank. Occupying the third tier, Senators Bong Go (82.7%) and Robin Padilla (82.3%) have shown commendable performances. The fourth and fifth spots have been claimed by Senators Chiz Escudero (86.2%) and Loren Legarda (80.2%), and Senators Win Gatchalian (76.5%), Sonny Angara (75.7%) and Cynthia Villar (75.3%), respectively.

In the subsequent rankings, Senators Alan Cayetano (72.4%), Ronald Dela Rosa (71.8%), Koko Pimentel (68.7%), and Risa Hontiveros (68.2%) have displayed notable performance, with Senators Nancy Binay (65.8%) and Pia Cayetano (64.7%) capturing the eighth position. Rounding out the list, Senators Joel Villanueva (61.5%), JV Ejercito Estrada (60.7%).
