Manila relocates displaced legitimate Pritil Market vendors to Herbosa
THE city government of Manila has allowed almost 500 displaced stall holders of the burnt Pritil Market in Tondo to use the stretch of Herbosa Street as their temporary vending area.
This was announced by Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan after she personally inspected yesterday the total extent of the fire damage that hit the biggest public market in Tondo last April 28 displacing a total of 491 legitimate stall holders.
“Matatagalan po kasi ang pagsasa-ayos niyan, hindi naman po maliit na pamilihan ang Pritil Market, in fact nasa 6,000 square meters po yan. Tinitingnan pa po namin kung pag-aari pa natin yung remaining na 3,000 square meters, so, kung talagang amin po lahat yan, almost one hectare po yan,” the mayor explained.
The mayor however, asked them to follow the rules and policies being implemented by the city government on their new vending area.
She also dispelled the apprehension of stall holders that Pritil Market will be privatized as she assured them that the local government would still manage the public market after its reconstruction making it bigger to accommodate more market vendors.
