Man with ‘rabies’ dies in Navotas
A 57-YEAR-OLD man, believed to be “infected” with rabies, was found dead Tuesday before dawn in Navotas City.
The victim, of Taganahan, St. Bgy. Bagumbayan South, was found by his neighbor, a barangay watchman, at around 4:30 a.m. lying at his doorstep with no sign of life, prompting him to call the Health Emergency Medical Service of Navotas Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (NDRRMO).
Navotas City JRT Ambulance responded to the area, but they found the victim already dead.
A witness told police that earlier, the victim was reportedly bitten by a stray dog, and despite persuasion by his relatives to go to San Lazaro Hospital for consultation and check-up, he continued to refuse until they learned that he was already suffering from headache, weakness and body pain which are first symptoms of rabies infection.
Responding elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) led by P/Capt. Jerry Damaso found no visible external physical injuries on the victim’s body.
