Male trader shot dead in Batangas

A 58-YEAR-OLD businessman was mercilessly shot dead by five unknown assailants while standing on the side of the road in San Juan, Batangas Thursday morning.

San Juan Municipal Police Station (MPS) chief, Major Arlan V. Perez identified the victim as Francisco Hidalgo Jr. y Ojales, married, a native of Bgy. Quipot, San Juan but presently residing at Bgy. Santiago in Malvar town.

A telephone call from a concerned citizen was received the by San Juan MPS around 8:50 a.m. reporting the incident that transpired in Bgy. Sico 1, this municipality.

Initial investigation showed that around 8:30 a.m. on the same date, the victim arrived at the village to meet someone when more or less five unidentified suspects onboard a white car suddenly appeared and without any word shot the victim several times using long and short firearms that resulted in his instantaneous death.

The suspects immediately fled going to Rosario town, according to a local resident.

San Juan MPS is still conducting hot pursuit and dragnet operations against the fleeing suspects.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives was requested for crime scene investigation and autopsy of the victim.
