Malabon LGU intensifies anti-dengue activities
MALABON City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval has called on residents to actively participate in the city’s campaign to combat Dengue
The initiative aims to prevent the spread of the disease and safeguard the health and well-being of the community.
The City Epidemiology Surveillance Unit of the City Health Department (CHD) reported a total of 469 suspected dengue cases, including 5 fatalities, from January 1 to March 29.
Among the barangays with confirmed dengue cases, Barangay Longos recorded the highest number, with 115 cases, followed by Barangay Tonsuya with 45 cases, and Barangay Catmon with 36.
In response, the city government has doubled its efforts in disease surveillance across various areas, particularly streets where suspected dengue cases have been reported.
Additionally, the city continues to implement integrated vector management (IVM) strategies, including misting activities in high-risk zones, source reduction initiatives to eliminate mosquito breeding sites, and regular declogging operations in drainage systems and waterways.
To further enhance service delivery, Ospital ng Malabon will launch the “OsMal Dengue Express Lane 24/7,” aimed at improving care for dengue patients, facilitating coordination with tertiary hospitals for patient transfers, and ensuring the timely dissemination of important information.
To provide immediate assistance to dengue patients, the city has activated “Dengue Fast Lanes” at its four Super Health Centers and 17 Health Centers. These facilities ensure that suspected dengue patients receive prompt care for their recovery. Dengue Awareness Lectures are also being held at these centers.
The local government is also conducting awareness campaigns and lectures in both public and private elementary and high schools to ensure that Malabuenos are well-informed about dengue prevention and treatment.
In addition, approximately 100 health personnel from Malabon City, including doctors, nurses, and sanitary inspectors, have undergone disease surveillance training to enhance their readiness to respond effectively in times of need. Health care providers are also receiving refresher courses on dengue awareness campaigns.
