Magnitude 5.1 quake shakes Oriental Mindoro
A MAGNITUDE 5.1 earthquake yesterday shook Oriental Mindoro, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the epicenter of the tremor was 12- kms. northwest of Bansud town.
The quake, which was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 2 kms., occurred at 1:38 a.m. yesterday.
Intensity 5 was felt in Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro while intensity 4 was recorded in the municipalities of Bansud and Gloria.
Phivolcs also logged the following instrumental intensities: Intensity 4- Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro; intensity 3 – City of Calapan, and Roxas, Oriental Mindoro; intensity 2 – Boac, Marinduque; Victoria, Oriental Mindoro; Gumaca, Quezon; and intensity 1 – Lemery, San Luis and Batangas City, Batangas; Abra De Ilog and San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro; and Mauban in Quezon.
No injury or damage to property was reported.
