LAND Transportation Office (LTO) Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza II ordered the preventive suspension of the driver’s license of a motorist who inflicted serious injuries to an Angkas rider and his backrider in Mandaluyong last Wednesday

Citing a report from the police, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic enforcers arrested the 53-year-old motorist moments after he allegedly sideswiped the motorcycle driven by an Angkas rider.

Based on the investigation by the LTO-National Capital Region headed by Regional Director Roque Verzosa III, the Suzuki Wagon involved in the accident is registered to a bank.

A Show Cause Order was already issued against the driver of Suzuki Wagon to explain why he shouldn’t be charged for Reckless Driving, Duty of a driver in case of accident and Improper Person to Operate a Vehicle.

The police reported the incident happened along the EDSA southbound in Brgy. Wack-Wack, Mandaluyong City and started when the Angkas rider allegedly cut in the way of a vehicle being driven by the involved motorist.

The report added that the driver of the Suzuki Wagon reportedly got mad since he almost hit the motorcycle and was irked when he was ignored by the Angkas driver when he was warning him.

This led to the driver of Suzuki Wagon to deliberately sideswipe the motorcycle, the incident was caught in a dashcam that later went viral on social media.

As a result, the motorcycle crashed which inflicted injuries on the Angkas rider and his back rider.

“Lagi nating pinapaalalahanan ang ating mga motorista na huwag mamayani ang galit sa kalsada dahil walang magandang maibubunga ito,” said Mendoza.

Mendoza said he already tasked the LTO-NCR to conduct further investigation into the matter in order to get the side of the driver and the motorcycle rider in the spirit of due process.
