THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) issued a resolution against the driver/owner of the “Red Ferrari” that illegally entered the strictly-for-buses lane along EDSA.

The resolution, issued by the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) and signed by LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Teofilo Guadiz III, found the vehicle liable administratively of Disregarding Traffic Sign.

Aside from the fine, the Ferrari driver’s license was ordered suspended for 90 days or an equivalent of three months.

Likewise, the Data Control Unit of the LTO’s Law Enforcement Service (LES) was directed to tag an alarm on the records of the red Ferrari F8 Tributo with plate number NEM 8999. The alarm will remain until such time that the vehicle’s owner provides the identity of the driver at the time of the incident. This also means that the vehicle owner will not be able to renew the registration of the vehicle until the driver appears at the IID office to explain why he/she entered the bus lane.

The resolution stemmed from the incident of a “Red Ferrari” illegally entering the “EDSA Carousel” bus lane that was captured on video and was immediately brought to the LTO’s attention and immediate action.

The “EDSA Carousel” bus lane is for the exclusive use of Public Utility Buses (PUBs) and other authorized motor vehicles such as those used for law enforcement, medical and emergency response.

LTO Chief Guadiz emphasized that they exercised due process to provide the driver/owner enough time to appear before the IID to explain in writing about the incident. However, the driver/owner still failed to appear despite the issuance of several show cause orders, hence the issuance of the resolution.

“We cannot be blamed for swiftly issuing a resolution on this case because the violation warrants it. The bus lane was put up for the exclusive use of PUBs and other authorized vehicles and not for private vehicles, no matter the size, make and price tag. Despite the many signs placed declaring it to be as such, the driver blatantly disregarded those, as if showing that he/she is above the law, and we will not let that pass,” said Guadiz.
