TINIYAK ni Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief Vigor Mendoza II na tatapusin ng LTO ang 11 milyong license plates backlog sa motorsiklo sa Hunyo 2025.

Sa pulong balitaan sa Malakanyang, sinabi ni Mendoza na carry over pa ang backlog noong 2014.

“So, we are now catching up. Tuloy ang catch up on this. But we have a program of how to move this forward. By the end of 2024, we would have addressed more or less 50% of the backlog. By June 2025, we would have finished the backlog as far as motorcycles are concerned,” pahayag ni Mendoza.

Ayon ang kagandahan dito, ayon sa opisyal, side-by-side na tinutugnan ng LTO ang backlog at ang kasalukuyang demand sa mga bumibili ng bagong motorsiklo.

“There is no reason why they will not be able to get their plates on time,” pahayag ni Mendoza. Ayon kay Mendoza, kakulangan ng pondo ang dahilan kaya lumubo ang backlog sa plaka ng motorsiklo.

“Nakita po natin kasi once na ang problem ‘no, kung ang hinihingi ng gobyerno that time is let say P1 billion, ang nabibigay lang na pondo is around P400 million. So there’s a gap and that happened through the years,” pahayag ni Mendoza.

“It’s only under this administration na biglang tumalon iyong pagbibigay ng budget ng kongreso from an average of 14% for the past years, biglang tumalon ng mga 77% from what we requested and that is more than enough to cover this problem right now.

It’s more from budgetary problems that we solved,” dagdag ni Mendoza.
