SENATORS condemned the recent killing of businessman Anson Que and his driver as they urged proper authorities to act accordingly to protect innocent people who are being victimized by unscrupulous elements.

Both Senators Sherwin Gatchalian and JV Ejercito have issued official statements regarding the killing of businessman Que and his driver, both of whom were abducted in late March and later found deceased in Rodriguez, Rizal despite giving the ransom payment.

Gatchalian called for legal accountability as he urged to unmask those behind the kidnapping and killing of these people.

“I strongly condemn the recent heinous kidnapping and brutal killing of Anson Que, a businessman from Valenzuela, and his driver. Such a barbaric crime is a blatant and unforgivable assault on the rule of law, attacking the very foundation of a peace-loving and civilized society,” Gatchalian said.

“I call on the authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice and that the full weight of the law is applied resolutely and without compromise,” he added.

Ejercito said: “The recent spate of kidnappings is deeply alarming and demands the full attention and focus of the administration, as it threatens both public safety and the country’s business climate and international reputation.”

Ejercito proposed the involvement of a specialized task force if necessary, citing efforts by previous law enforcement officials: “Undersecretary Gilbert Cruz, with his extensive experience in the Presidential Anti-Crime Commission (PACC) has successfully neutralized notorious kidnap-for-ransom groups like the Kuratong Baleleng and the Red Scorpion Gang led by Joey De Leon.”

According to reports, Anson Que and his driver were reportedly abducted on March 29 in Valenzuela City. Their bodies were later found on April 9 in Rodriguez, Rizal. Law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation into the incident.

Some business groups have reportedly expressed concern over the incident and its implications for public safety and security and urged the need for proper authorities to dig deeper into the issue.
