Kaya FC battles Incheon
KAYA FC-Iloilo, coming off a successful Copa Paulino Alcantara conquest, plays South Korea’s Incheon United to wrap up its AFC Champions League stint today at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Kickoff is at 4 p.m.
The Group G match is Kaya FC’s final chance to get points on the board after a campaign which has seen the Iloilo-based side lose five consecutive matches.
Kaya has not been able to challenge on the continental stage, but denying Incheon a place in the knockout stage will be a welcome consolation for the Philippines Football League side.
The momentum of its penalty shootout victory over Davao Aguilas UMAK in the Copa Final last Saturday is what Kaya wanted to boost its morale.
With Yokohama F. Marinos and Shandong Taishan FC also in the running for the knockout stage, Incheon has no recourse but to gain full points to advance.
The Koreans will feel confident of their chances, having emphtically defeated Kaya, 4-0, in their first meeting in Incheon.
In its previous AFC Cup match last Nov. 28, Kaya suffered a 1-6 defeat to Shandong.
