WOMEN’S softball, one sport that has brought the country countless honors in the past, is set to return to an active role with Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) president Jean Henri Lhuillier’s appointment of two new American coaches, Hailey Decker and Amber Freeman.

“We are very happy to have both of them with the Blu Girls. They played with the team in 2019 when we campaigned abroad,” said long time sports patron Lhuillier.

“We are confident that with this combination of these new coaches, they will help us to more wins and reach new achievements in forthcoming major tournaments including the Canada Cup and the Asian Games.

On her part, former Blu Girl and current ASAPHIL Secretary-General Francesca Altomente looks forward to the new coaches joining the team,” I am certainly happy to have them with us, both are very skilled and knowledgeable in the sport, raring to share their experiences with our players.”

Freeman, a student-athlete under the Academic All America in Arizona , was the 2013 Player of the Year in the PAC 12 Conference and played with the United States team from 2009 to 2014, after which she was drafted to play professional softball.

“I am a big teacher of the game, I connect with my athletes on a personal level first, then I dive into the softball aspect. I am a firm coach and will do what needs to be done, but I follow this with a hug,” said Freeman, present Vanguard University coach.
