OR. MINDORO — At least 25 indigenous Mangyans in Sitio Proper, Bgy. Panaytayan have successfully completed the Solar Light Panel Assembly & Installation Training in Panaytayan, Mansalay on June 9.

Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Regional Director Manuel B. Wong and TESDA Provincial Director Joel Pilotin led the graduation of the group.

Both Wong and Pilotin recognized the skill and enthusiasm shown by the indigenous graduates. They said the agency is set to follow the free training for Organic Agriculture Production in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture in the next few days.

The 25 indigenous people were thankful for the opportunity given to them especially from the free education. They also received P1,620 cash allowance for their seven days of training. They said that what they learned was a big help because they can now install electricity in their homes using solar panels for free and they can even turn it into a business.

Teachers from Simeon Suan Vocational and Technical College in Bansud, which is the training arm of TESDA, served as training facilitators.

Aside from TESDA officials, also at the event were NCIP Provincial Officer Reynante S. Luna and representatives from the Cooperative Development Authority, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Army, bgy. captains and The Chinese Union.

This program is part of the compliance of TESDA and related government agencies with Executive Order No. 70 by President Rodrigo Duterte or the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict. With Dennis Nebrejo/Mindoro PISD Facebook
