
Imus to burn old, worn-out PH flags today
IMUS CITY, Cavite – As a tribute to the national flag, the city government of Imus will hold a ceremonial flag burning and cremation Sunday, June 11, 2023, a day before the 125th anniversary of Philippine Independence to be held at historic Imus Heritage Park in Barangay Alapan here.
Vice Mayor Homer Saquilayan at City Administrator Hertito Monzon, together with the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Imus City chapter, will lead the ceremonial burning and cremation, which the local police officers will give a 21 gun salute.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin will lead the raising of the national flag on the balcony of the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit during the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the country’s independence on Monday, June 12, 2023 in Bgy. Kaingen.
He will be accompanied by the local leaders of the province, Governor Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla Jr., Cavite 1st District Congressman Ramon “Jolo” Revilla Jr., Mayor Angelo Aguinaldo and will offer flowers at the tomb of General Emilio Aguinaldo in the shrine.
There will be a civic parade of various organizations along the Tirona Highway from Bgy. Potol to Marulas at 7 a.m. with a trade and job fair at Freedom Park.
The simultaneous flag raising will be held throughout the country at 8 a.m. at the same time as the largest flag in Luneta and the “flag capital” of the country in Imus.
On Friday, June 9, Kawit local government held a final ceremony for the national flag.
