THIS birthday greeting is weeks overdue. But then the celebrant, Noriel Deluna, is way much worth sending well wishes. For every day of knowing him feels like a celebration of life.

Like his blessed partner Onette, Noriel is a well-grounded soul. Despite their privileged status, the happy couple remains humble and very approachable. Unlike many who have climbed the ladder of success, they don’t cancel people. Everybody is simply welcome in their beautiful home and more beautiful hearts.

Noriel is a man for others. A modern-day good Samaritan. He always has a lending hand out for the needy, a listening ear for the downtrodden and a rare compassion for less fortunate humans.

An athlete in his younger days in Mapua, Noriel remains fit in body, mind and spirit. One of his outstanding and likable features: he cracks hilarious jokes and puns with a straight face.

This corner has known Noriel and Onette only for a few years. But their genuine warmth and friendship make it feel as if we’ve known each other forever.

Divine intervention — through an equally beloved buddy Ellen Hilario — made us cross paths. Noriel gladly gave me assistance even though he didn’t know me. He made me believe that kindness still remains in people. And realize that humanity is not doomed.

The name Noriel means ‘light of God.’ And the person Noriel de Luna definitely definitely is. For he brings light to everything and everybody — his family, friends, career, and even strangers.

On your latest milestone this year, Noriel, allow this corner to thank you in behalf of the numerous souls whose existence you have brightened up. Your family, friends, peers and every one whose lives you have touched wish you continued blessings, bliss and more spectacular journeys.
