First MIFF in Hollywood makes history
LOS ANGELES, CA–Days bago nagsimula ang kauna- unahang Manila International Film Festival last Monday, January 29, 2024 at the TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood, California, USA, magkakasunod na nagsidatingan ang delegates mula sa MMDA at Metro Manila Film Festival na pinangunahan ng MMDA chairman at Metro Manila Film Festival chairman na si Atty. Don Artes, MMFF ExeComm board member Boots Anson Roa-Rodrigo, MMFF spokesperson Noel Ferrer, actor and Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) chairman Tirso Cruz III, FDCP consultant, writer and director Joey Javier Reyes, film priducers, stars and supporting actors, directors of the ten film entries, Metro Manila Mayors among others.
The TCL Chinese Theatres were bustling with various actitivities which include the press conference held at the TCL Chinese Theatre Auditorium followed by interviews at the red carpet and the screening of two of the ten participating movies na sinimulan ng mga pelikulang “ Rewind” and “When I Met You in Tokyo”.
There are two screening per movie hanggang sa pagtatapos ng MIFF on February 2 sa pamamagitan ng gala night at awards ceremonies.
There are six Fil-Am jurors which include Marie Zamora, Marie Acevedo, Redgie Lee, David Maquiling, Leah Anova and Tomas Montano who will be have their own choice of winners and stated that they will not be influenced by the results in the Dec, 27, 2023 MMFF Gabi ng Parangal held at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.
The 1st MIFF awards night will be held at the Director’s Guild of America in the evening of February 2, 2024 which will signal ng pagtatapos ng week-long MIFF.
The six founders ng Manila International Film Festival ay binubuo nina Omar Tolentino. Omen Ortiz ( chairman), Ebra Du, Liza Manibog- Lew at ang mag-asawang Ruben at Janet Susan Nepales.
With the creation of the 1st Manila international Film Festival in Hollywood in cooperation with the Philippines Metro Manila film Festival, the two forging organizations are making history.
