Ex-cop turned ex-bgy chief nabbed in Vizcaya for carnap

This after a former cop, considered as the 5th most wanted person in the national level was arrests after nine years last Tuesday.

The suspect had gone AWOL and later became a barangay captain.

Reports received by B/Gen. Crizaldo Nieves, Cagayan Valley police director, said that Job Lapitan, 62, a resident of Purok 1, Barangay Bangar, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya was arrested in Bgy. Roxas, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya by personnel of the Solano Police Station, Nueva Vizcaya Police Provincial Office and Nueva Vizcaya Highway Patrol Team on the strength of a warrant of arrest for carnapping.

The court recommended a P300,000 bail for Lapitan’s provisional liberty.

Police Captain Jet Sayno, Solano Police Station chief, Lapitan and three other unidentified carnapped a Starex Van owned by Essex Silapan of Solano, Nueva Vizcaya at 12 a.m. on June 12, 2012.

Lapitan was a cop who went AWOL in 2000. He was later elected chairman of his barangay in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya in the same year.

He was also charged with violation of the law on illegal explosives or RA 8294 as amended by RA 9516 and slight physical injury in 2012.

Lapitan is now under the custody of Solano Police Station for documentation prior to his turnover to the court.
