EULOGIO Rodriguez Jr. High School principal Gina Labor Obierna inducted the officials of the ERJHS Alumni Sports Club, headed by Ed Andaya of Batch 81 as president, during the ERJHS’ 71st Founding Anniversary celebrations held at the school quadrangle in Mayon Ave., Quezon City last Feb. 23.

In her speech, Obierna lauded the role of the alumni sports association in fostering friendship and camaraderie among graduates of the school.

She also underscored the inspiration being provided by the alumni asociation to the student-athletes.

Among the past projects of the ASC were the “Isulong mo with GM Eugene Torre” simultaneous exhibition matches which it co-organized with the Meralco Sports Foundation; ERJHS Alumni “Sports Hall of Fame” and the “Battle of Generations ” basketball and volleyball championships.

Sports personalities who attended these activities were PBA legends Samboy Lim, Alvin Patrimonio, Bong Alvarez, Gary David, Alvin and Jeron Teng, Renren Ritualo, Terrence Romeo, Stanley Pringle and the NorthPort Batang Pier.

Aside from Torre, the other chess mssters who played simultaneous exhibition games with ERJHS students were 2023 PSA Chess Player awardee IM Efren Bagamasbad and NM Edgardo Garma.

Also inducted were Zeny Castor of Batch 70 (Adviser), Neneng Gutierrez of Batch 72 (Vice-President for 70s), Imee Gines of Batch 82 (Vice-President for 80s), Robert Capistrano of Batch 94 (Vice-President for 90s), Oliric Lacsamana of Batch 2000 (Vice President for 2000s), Jane Jimenez of Batch 85 (Secretary), Bess Maghirang of Batch 83 (Auditor), Melissa Cabalic of Batch 89 (PRO), Gina de los Santos of Batch 86 (PRO), and Roland Doncillo of Batch 81 (Director), Ramon Ypil of Batch 84 (Director), Albert Andaya of Batch 85 (Director), Roy Madayag of Batch 91 and Richard Nell of Batch 93 (Director).
