THE trailer for new documentary feature ‘Eraserheads: Combo on the Run’ will have its world premiere on July 26 at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), the world’s “oldest and largest pop culture convention of its kind” (Forbes), which transitioned from specialist comic-book, sci-fi and fantasy hub to mammoth multi-genre gathering since its inception in 1970.

‘Eraserheads: Combo on the Run’ is written and directed by Maria Diane Ventura. It will be her first feature since 2021’s much-lauded Deine Farbe (Best German Feature, Berlin Festival; Best Director, International Film Festival Manhattan).

The popular E-heads, composed of still its original members Ely Buendia, Buddy Zabala, Marcus Adoro and Raimund Marasigan, is presently on their ‘Huling El Bimbo’ world tour sweeping cities of the US and Canada.

They will also be featured in an SDCC-exclusive issue of hit Filipino-American indie comic The Legendary Lumpia Squad. They will be in an exclusive panel, comic book signing, meet-and-greet.

At the same time, a panel dedicated to the Lumpia Universe is also scheduled on July 26, 7 to 8 pm, at Room 6 BCF of the San Diego Convention Center.

Creators behind the award-winning Lumpia movie and comic book series will discuss their latest projects. The Ones and Twos, spotlighting the Fil-Am mobile DJ scene of the nineties and their new issue of the Legendary Lumpia Squad.

With appearance by The Eraserheads, the event will show the trailer of Combo on the Run.

Ely, The Eraserheads’ singer and chief songwriter, will grace the panel alongside Lumpia Squad creator Patricio Ginesla and legendary artist Whilce Portacio (X-Men, Stone). Ely will also be at the exclusive autograph signing slated the next day, July 27.

Known for having lorded over Pinoy alt-rock in the ‘90s and beyond, Ely and bandmates Raimund, Buddy and Marcus are, in a manner of speaking, akin to being music superheroes in the eyes of fans back home, as well as the global Filipino diaspora.

Combo first started production during preparation work for 2022’s Manila staging of ‘Huling El Bimbo,’ a monumental gathering that provided reprieve to a nation still reeling from the effects of a divisive political year.

The feature ultimately zeroes in on how this “unlikely group of disbanded punks” was able to provide healing while, ironically, grappling for it themselves.

Eraserheads: Combo on the Run is presented by Dvent Pictures and WEU, and produced by Ely Buendia and Voyage Studios. The trailer will be available to the public on July 27 on the Eraserheads’ and DVent Picture’s official YouTube channels. https://www.youtube.com/@eraserheads_official https://www.youtube.com/@dventpictures.

Meanwhile, the E-heads are completing their Huling El Bimbo tour of North America. They started early this month with a performance in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Temecula, Toronto (at The Great Canadian Casino Resort in Canada) and Honolulu at the Coral Ballroom of the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

Later this year, The Eraserheads will perform in Singapore (November 23) and Dubai (United Arab Emirates, December 8).
