Ecija sexagenarian-couple held for slight illegal detention raps
ZARAGOSA, Nueva Ecija — A sexagenarian-couple accused of slight illegal detention of their alleged grandchildren was nabbed during manhunt operations conducted shortly after midnight here on Wednesday.
Joint elements of the local police led by Major Jaime P. Ferrer, the 1st provincial mobile force company-NEPPO, and the provincial office of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Nueva Ecija swooped down on the suspects’ lair in Bgy. Macarse, leading to their arrest at 12:40 a.m. here.
Ferrer said the suspects, identified as spouses Glicerio, 67, and Domingo Calautit, 68, both of Bgy. Macarse, did not resist arrest after being served the warrant for slight illegal detention issued by the Gapan City municipal trial court in Branch 87 on July 5, 2017, with bail recommended at P40,000.
“Iyung mga apo nila, bale pinigil nila sa loob ng bahay. Ang complainant ng mag-asawang akusado ay isang attorney na bale ba ay pamangkin ni attorney iyung mga bata, kaya bale mga uncle-auntie niya ang akusado kasi magpinsan yung nanay ni attorney at tatay ng akusado,” explained Ferrer.
Ferrer said it appeared that the case stemmed from a land dispute issue.
He said he just dug up the issued arrest warrants for the couple and he was unsure yet about the whereabouts of the parents of the grandchildren who were the victims in the said case.
Ferrer said the two arrested suspects are now locked up at the detention cell here for proper disposition.
