DOJ starts probe on fake Guevarra e-mail
THE Justice Department’s Office of the Cybercrime has started investigating the fake email address supposedly of Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra.
” The DOJ Office of Cybercrime is on it. If necessary, I’ll seek help from the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation),” Guevarra said in a short message to reporters Sunday.
In an advisory Saturday, the DOJ said the email address, [email protected], is being used by unscrupulous individuals to request assistance in the procurement of iTunes gift cards as donations to patients in medical care units.
However, the DOJ said the Office of the Secretary’s only official email accounts are [email protected] and [email protected].
“Message coming from a different email address than that of the official ones.. shall be dealt with conscientiously, as these neither originate from this Department, the Office of the Secretary, nor the Justice Secretary,” the advisory read.
