DOH logs over 10K new survivors; PH recovery tally now 2.6M
THE nation’s total number of recovered coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases has reached 2,598,052 after 10,237 new recoveries were reported on Sunday.
In its latest case bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said recoveries account for 95.5 percent of the total case count which has reached 2,720,368 since the start of the pandemic last year.
Meanwhile, some 6,913 new infections brought the total number of active cases nationwide to 81,641.
About 82 percent of these active cases are mild, 5.5 percent are asymptomatic, 1.6 percent are critical, 3.8 percent are severe, and 7.13 percent are moderate.
Moreover, 95 new deaths were reported, bringing the total death toll due to the coronavirus to 40,675.
According to DOH data on October 17, about 12.5 percent of 53,669 who were tested turned out positive for COVID-19.
“About 54 duplicates were removed from the total case count, and of these, 35 are recoveries,” it added.
All laboratories were operational on October 15 while three laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
The DOH said the seven non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 0.5 percent of samples tested, and 0.5 percent of positive individuals based on data in the last 14 days.
To date, 62 percent of 4,300 intensive care unit beds, 47 percent of 20,700 isolation beds, 47 percent of 14,900 ward beds, and 46 percent of 3,300 ventilators are utilized by patients with Covid-19 nationwide.
Meanwhile, 59 percent of 1,500 intensive care unit beds, 39 percent of 4,800 isolation beds, 43 percent of 4,200 ward beds, and 44 percent of 1,000 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are in use in the National Capital Region. Philippine News Agency
