A PHILIPPINE National Police’s (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group (DEG) operation on Monday destroyed an estimated P2.2 million worth of fully-grown marijuana (MJ) plants found growing in an uninhabited cannabis site in Tampacan, South Cotabato, PNP-DEG Director Brigadier General Narciso D. Domingo said Tuesday.

In a report to PNP Chief Gen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., the PNP-DEG director said that around 11,000 pieces of fully-grown cannabis were uprooted by his men in Barangay Tablu in Tampakan municipality and later burned on site.

Domingo said that they got full support from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the Police Regional Office (PRO) 12 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, Regional Special Operations Group, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion, the Tampacan Municipal Police Station, and the Army’s 10th Special Forces Battalion in the conduct of the marijuana eradication drive.

However, no arrests were made during the operation.

Domingo said they are further stepping up their effort to “search-and-destroy” all marijuana plantation sites in the country to prevent their smuggling to urban areas.
