SIX suspected street-level suspected drug dealers in Davao City were arrested by the local police inside a known drug den which they raided on Saturday, Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) Director Brigadier General Benjamin H. Silo Jr. said yesterday.

In a report to Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., the PRO 11 director said that over P30,000 worth of shabu and dried marijuana leaves and assorted drug paraphernalia were also recovered inside the raided drug den located at Purok 11, Barangay Talomo in Davao City.

Silo said that six suspects were arrested during the anti-drug operation conducted at 1:05 a.m. last Saturday.

The official said that members of the Talomo Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) under Major Noel Villahermosa and the Baliok Police Station 17 headed by Maj. Nelson Violan conducted the operation, which initially targeted a primary suspect in the said drug den.

He said that the suspect ran inside his residence while about to be arrested after he sold a packet of shabu to an undercover officer for P1,500.

Officers who pursued him found the other suspects involved in a drug session, prompting them to make the arrest.

Recovered from the suspects were three plastic sachets containing the so-called “poor man’s cocaine,” a plastic packet with dried cannabis leaves and assorted drug paraphernalia, including aluminum foils and tooters with shabu residue, a wooden pipe with traces of marijuana, and a digital weighing scale.

Silo said that the suspects are now facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
