Cop nabbed by colleagues for ‘rape’ of stepdaughter, 9
A POLICE officer, accused of raping a 9-year-old Grade 4 student daughter of his live-in partner, was arrested by his colleagues Sunday in Valenzuela City.
Northern Police District (NPD) Director P/Col. Ponce Rogelio Penones ordered the arrest of the suspect, assigned at the Valenzuela Police Station, after the victim divulged her ordeal to her mother, who then sought the assistance of Dalandanan Police Sub-Station, on Sunday morning.
The arrested suspect was presented by Valenzuela Police Chief P/Col. Salvador Destura to Mayor Wes Gatchalian after his badge, service firearm and PNP-ID were ordered confiscated by Penones, pending the filing of a criminal case of statutory rape and administrative case, subject to summary dismissal proceedings.
An investigation conducted by Valenzuela Police Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) showed that while the victim was sleeping beside her mother inside the room of their house in Sumilang Subdivision, Bgy. Dalandanan, the suspect, sexually abused her and only stopped when her mother was awakened at around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday.
The girl said she tried to turn on the light, but her stepfather whispered to her that if she told her mother about the incident, he would “beat up” her mother, prompting her to go out of the room and go to his brother, who was sleeping in the living room.
When her mother followed her and asked her what happened, she told her that she was sexually abused by the suspect, which prompted the former to seek police assistance, resulting in the suspect’s arrest.
The victim said that the suspect, on several occasions, repeatedly molested her and threatened not to reveal her ordeal to her mother.
“In line with our [PNP chief’s] thrust ‘Malasakit in M+K+K=K’, wherein we intensify our internal cleansing within our ranks, we will never allow abusive policemen to remain in our organization and tarnish the advances we attained because of the misdeeds of some police officers, He will rot in jail,” Penones said.
