IMUS CITY, Cavite – The city government of Imus on Monday officially opened the first park for all Imuseños with the blessing of “Juan Munti Park: Munting Paraiso” on Tahimik St., Bgy. Toclong I-A, this city.

Imus City Mayor Alex “AA” Advincula and Vice Mayor Homer “Saki” Saquilayan led the inauguration of the park, which is one of their infrastructure initiatives.

The park, which measures 2,260 square-meters, features an exercising area for senior citizens, a children’s playground — with slides, see-saws, spring riders, and swings — a picnic area, an activity area for pets, restrooms and parking spaces.

City of Imus – Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs officer-in-charge (OIC) Luzviminda Elbinias and Imus City Tourism and Heritage Office OIC Dr. Jun Paredes said their goal is for the park to be a bridge in strengthening the community.

Juan Munti Park is named after Juan “Munti” Villanueva, an Imuseño revolutionary who fought during the Filipino Revolution in 1897 and died at the age of 11.

The city government wishes to pay tribute to the bravery of Juan “Munti” and his love for the people, as well as to give honor to the memory of his life in the barrio of Toclong.
