AN anti-criminality raid in Caloocan City conducted by agents of the National Capital Region Field Unit of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) in Caloocan City on Tuesday afternoon resulted in the seizure of over P1.5 million worth of drugs and an unlicensed firearm, PNP-CIDG Director Major General Eliseo DC Cruz announced yesterday.

The two suspects were arrested during the operation along 7th Avenue in Bgy. 54, Caloocan City around 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, the official said in a report to PNP Officer-in-Charge (PNP-OIC), Lt. Gen. Vicente D. Danao Jr.

Maj. Gen. Cruz said that members of the CIDG-NCRFU headed by Col. Randy Glenn G. Silvio conducted the buy-bust operation, which resulted in the arrest of the duo after they conspired to sell a caliber .45 pistol with two magazines containing 14 live ammunition to an undercover officer of the CIDG Northern Metro Manila District Field Unit.

Initially recovered from the suspects were the semi-automatic pistol and the P10,000 worth of buy-bust money topped by a marked P1,000 bill.

However, when searched, one suspect yielded four plastic bags of 120 grams of “kush” or marijuana worth P168,000. On the other hand, his cohort was found in possession of two plastic bags weighing 100 grams of shabu valued at P1.360 million, an electronic weighing scale, and a mobile phone.

Col. Silvio told the Journal Group that the suspects were believed to be members of a syndicate involved in illegally selling loose weapons and dangerous drugs in the Camanava (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela) district.

Silvio said the suspects are now facing charges for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearm and Ammunition Regulations of 2013 and RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
