FOUR persons wanted for assaulting officers enforcing a demolition order issued by a court in Maragondon, Cavite last January 13 were arrested by local Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) agents on Thursday, a report to PNP-CIDG Director Major General Eliseo DC Cruz said yesterday.

Cavite CIDG Chief Lt. Col. Bryan Dexter Andulan identified the suspects with alias “Ka Susi”; alias “Edgar Putla”, and two others – all residents of Bgy. Patungan in Maragondon municipality.

The four were arrested in Sta. Mercedes, Bgy. Patungan late evening, Thursday on the strength of a warrant for direct assault issued by Judge Maria Espineli of the Maragondon-Ternate-Magallanes Municipal Circuit Trial Courts with a bail of P18,000 each for their temporary liberty.

“Ka Susi” and “Edgar Putla” were identified as leaders of Karapatan Timog Katagalugan-Patungan Chapter, said Lt. Col. Andulan.

He added that “Edgar Putla” was an alleged former New People’s Army (NPA) member who has surrendered to authorities.

Both suspects were accused of leading members of the “Save Patungan Movement” in allegedly assaulting security forces implementing an amended writ of demolition order issued by Judge Lerio Castigador of the Naic Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 15 in Bgy. Patungan last January 13.

The group reportedly fought the demolition crew and security forces assisting them, said the Cavite CIDG chief.

All four were taken to the CIDG Cavite Provincial Field Unit office for booking and documentation before their presentation to the court.

Operatives assisted the Cavite CIDG from the Cavite Provincial Mobile Force Company, the Police Regional Office 4-A (PRO 4-A) Regional Mobile Force Battalion, and the Maragondon Municipal Police Station in serving the arrest warrants issued against the suspects, said CIDG Region 4-A chief, Col. Marlon Santos.
