Chinese resto owner hurt in Olongapo foiled kidnap try

A CHINESE national on Friday was injured after he was shot by a group of compatriots trying to abduct him in Olongapo City.

In a report to Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., the Olongapo City police identified the victim as Chen Guisheng, owner of Hongyung Restaurant at Subic Bay Freeport Zone in Olongapo City.

Police were told by witnesses security guard Michael Melancolico, 34, and the victim’s brother-in-law Wangping Zhou, that the victim, before closing his store and restaurant located on Sta. Rita Road, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, went outside together with his dog when he heard a group of men quarrelling.

Guisheng was approaching the group of men when they suddenly grabbed and dragged him towards a car.

The victim resisted prompting one of the men to punch and shoot him.

The suspects fled on a getaway vehicle after sensing that the incident caught the attention of the people in the area.

Guisheng was rushed to the Bay Point Hospital for treatment.

Police are now checking the CCTV footages in the area to identify and arrest the suspects.
