AN INDEPENDENT research group yesterday said the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Rizal and Quezon are now at low risk for coronavirus disease-19 transmission.

In a tweet, OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said the four provinces are now under low risk.

Batangas, meanwhile, is the only province in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) region that is at moderate risk for COVID-19.

David said the positivity rates in Calabarzon and the National Capital Region (NCR) are now below 10 percent.

“Positivity rates drop below 10 percent in Calabarzon. NCR, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, Rizal now at low risk. Batangas is expected to improve to low risk within a few days,” David posted on Twitter.

The OCTA Research earlier said NCR is already at low risk in COVID-19 transmission and expected to be at “very low risk” come March.

According to OCTA Research, the NCR had a positivity rate of 7 percent on February 15 while Batangas had 10 percent, Cavite – 9 percent, Laguna and Rizal – 8 percent and Quezon – 4 percent.

It said growth rates of Calabarzon provinces range from -50 percent to -59 percent.

In terms of reproduction rate, the NCR recorded 0.19, Batangas -0.25, Cavite – 0.20, Laguna and Quezon – 0.19 and Rizal – 0.18.

Their average daily attack rates (ADARs) are at moderate risk except Quezon, which is at very low risk.

ADAR is the number of infected individuals per 100,000 population.
