Cavite enforcer killed in Tanza traffic row

TANZA, Cavite – A traffic enforcer assigned along the pedestrian lane of the mall in Barangay Daang Amaya was gunned down Sunday afternoon, May 28, 2023.

Police Major Dennis Villanueva, local police chief, said the suspect, a resident of Barangay Biga, Tanza, Cavite was driving a motorcycle allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

Based on the initial investigation, the victim, a traffic enforcer and a resident of Bgy. Tres Cruses, apprehended the motorcycle rider and had an alleged heated argument.

According to probers, the suspect suddenly shot the traffic enforcer three times in the back of his head.

The suspect immediately escaped on board a black Yamaha Mio i125 motorcycle with a back rider toward an unknown direction.

The victim was rushed to the Tanza Specialist Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician due to sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Authorities recovered from the scene one deformed .45 caliber slug, which will be submitted to the Provincial Forensic Unit for ballistics examination.

The tracker teams recovered the motorcycle used by the suspects at Casanueva, Bgy. Biga, Tanza.

P/BGen. Carlito M. Gaces, the regional director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) Calabarzon (Cavite/Laguna/Batangas/Rizal/Quezon), directed P/Col. Christopher F. Olazo, director of Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO), for the immediate arrest of the suspect.

Furthermore, the Officer-In-Charge (OIC) of Tanza police coordinated with nearby police stations for a dragnet operation, and simultaneously a tracker team has been organized to track down the whereabouts of the suspects, according to PSSgt. Joycell Javier, officer-on-case.
