CORDILLERA Police Regional Office (PRO-COR) director Brigadier General David K. Peredo Jr. on Wednesday announced the arrest of four top drug targets in the region following separate anti-narcotics operations which led to the seizure of nearly P22 million worth of shabu and marijuana.

In a report to Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Benjamin C. Acorda Jr., the official said two suspects, alias “Joey” and “Jasmin,” were arrested in a sting in Baguio City on Monday morning.

He said that “Joey,” a known “high-value individual” (HVI), and “Jasmin,” classified as a “street-level drug dealer,” were arrested after they conspired to sell some P66,000 worth of shabu to an undercover officer of the Baguio City Police Office.

Initially recovered from the duo were three plastic sachets of shabu weighing 3.3 grams valued at P22,400, which they sold to a poseur from the Baguio City Police Station 6.

When frisked, the suspects yielded eight more plastic packets containing the same drug. The drugs weighed 6.4 grams and were valued at around P44,000.

Two other suspects were arrested in separate stings in Baguio City. Peredo said that they recovered from the suspects some P11,000 worth of shabu.

The official said that his men also recovered some P21.8 million worth of marijuana plants during separate operations in Benguet province from April 30 to last May 6. The prohibited crops were burned on site.

Peredo said that the arrested suspects are now facing charges for the sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
