ANTI-Narcotics agents arrested a claimant of a package containing illegal drugs (cannabis oil) worth P3.9 million Friday at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City.

Authorities arrested a 20-year-old resident of Calumpit, Bulacan who claimed the package was declared as used playing cards shipped from the United State of America (USA).

Alert operatives of Bureau of Customs, Ninoy Aquino International Airport, (BOC-NAIA) Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and NAIA-Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) discovered the package declared “used playing card” containing 170 pieces of vape pen cartridge label “Cookies” and 323 pieces of labeled “Cake” containing cannabis oil.

Initial test conducted by the Customs Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force (CAIDTF) showed that the discovered vape cartridges contain cannabinoid, a chemical compound found in cannabis or also known as marijuana.

The claimant was charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (Republic Act 9165) in relation to Section 118 (Prohibited Importation) and Section 1401 (Unlawful Importation) of the Republic Act 10863, otherwise known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
