Calamba mayor inspects schools on 1st day of classes
CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – Mayor Roseller “Ross” Rizal visited several public schools in the said city on the first day of school, Monday, August 22, 2022, to ensure the safety and order of the students and teachers here.
A total of 120,00 students from 73 public schools and 109 private schools have opened and returned to school for the first time in two years.
“Sa muling pagbubukas ng klase ngayong araw, paalala ng inyong lingkod sa kabataang Calambeño na mag-aral ng mabuti upang makamit ang inyong mga pangarap. Mahalaga ang edukasyon kaya ang ating administrasyon ay naglalaan rin ng mga proyekto at mga programang makakapagpaunlad sa sektor na ito,” the Calamba mayor said in his social media page.
According to Mayor Rizal, “We intend to infuse more funds [into] education. The [administration’s top priority] is the construction of more public high schools in clustered big barangays, more daycare centers to provide early childhood education, give more assistance to public and private school students, and better teaching devices for teachers.
Rizal said that the distribution of the “Special Program for the Employment of Students” or SPES for 800 Calambeño youth is to increase the number of SPES beneficiaries in the following years so that more young people can be allowed to be part of this program.
SPES is a program of the Calamba City government and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) that gives young people the opportunity to provide services in various government offices and receive an allowance that can be used in their studies.
